Wylam Brewery Wedding Photographer – Chloe & Tom

Chloe and Tom wed the knot at the amazing Wylam Brewery. It was a great day full of laughs, epic dance moves and awesome food…I do love food.
The morning before I even got to Chloe was quite comical. It was one of those mornings where I thought everything was going to go wrong, thank goodness I was wrong. I’d decided in advance that because I’m a total country bumpkin and city driving really bothers me I was going to park at the venue then walk across to The Malmaison where Chloe and her girls were getting ready. There was no car parking at the venue but I’d spotted on maps a car park nearby. Great. If I got there early enough I’d definitely find a space and have plenty of time to walk over for bridal prep.

I got there easily enough and ran into my first issue of the day, paying for parking. I downloaded the parking app and went to pay. Well, I was clicking through it that fast I hadn’t realised that it had saved the previous car I had logged on that app. *insert eye rolling emoji here*. Luckily I noticed before I hit pay, I then managed to somehow pay £18 for parking on the right car (only to learn later on that Wylam did actually have a car park for wedding suppliers – insert your second eye-rolling emoji here). Honestly, I made such a hash with this parking malarkey!

It was actually a lovely walk through Newcastle. I’ve been to Newcastle a lot but it’s rare I actually get a chance to look. All the Christmas decorations were still up and windows dressed. I got to see Fenwick’s Christmas window which was lovely, I had heard about it before but I had never actually seen it. However, Google maps had lied to me about how long this walk would take, couple this with trailing about my gear behind me, so it wasn’t long before it got to the point where I had regretted my decision. It was a good job I had left myself loads of time. And of course, i’d have to repeat this walk back.

Time for your third eye-rolling emoji…

I arrived at The Malmaison, loads of time to spare and glad I made it. Now the next challenge was to find Chloe. The man at reception was very helpful and gave me directions. For me to immediately get lost and have to go back to ask again. The second attempt went just as well, ha! I somehow ended up in the bar & restaurant area. There was no other staff around and It felt way to cringey to go back to reception, having already been away for 10 minutes to ask for a third time. By now I was really cursing myself, until I saw a lady carrying boxes of wedding flowers and followed her to Chloe’s room. My saviour! Thank goodness that was the end of the dramas for the day.

Bridal Prep

The room Chloe and her bridesmaids were getting ready in was absolutely stunning. A gorgeous, light room with a stunning bed, twin baths and an amazing view of the Millenium Bridge. Chloe and her girls were in good spirits and make up and hair was in full swing. Evidence of a decent breakfast was in the room (it’s amazing how many brides forget to eat on the morning of their wedding). I was already planning how I was going to use those baths, it would have been rude not to!

Groom Time

After spending some time with the girls I headed back to Wylam to meet the groom. Once again regretting my decision not to tackle the city streets in the car, especially now the Christmas market was in full swing. Tom looked dapper in his blue suit, as did his best man Curtis. The venue was all set up and ready to go, simply stunning. I was blown away by it. Rustic, yet modern and…IT HAS IT’S OWN GIN BAR! Its a perfect location for a wedding, over looking the lake in Exhibition Park. A little bit of country within city madness. I honestly love this venue. Did I mention it has a dedicated gin bar?

Time for the ceremony

Chloe’s bridesmaids arrived first, shortly followed by Chloe in a vintage VW van. They all looked stunning. The colours Chloe and Tom had chosen perfectly suited the venue’s rustic feel and brick work. It was a perfect match. The ceremony was beautiful and was supervised by Chloe and Tom’s pooch.

The whole day was just amazing. And I can’t tell you how grateful I am that my eye-rolling moments from earlier didn’t set the course for the day. I’ll leave you with the rest of the photos. Chloe and Tom, thank you for choosing me to capture your precious memories. I can’t wait for the day I get to go back to this amazing venue!
